  • There are two ways to be exposed to radiation: by being near an unshielded radiation source, like a nuclear reactor, and by getting radioactive material on or in you. Both are possible.

    If the exposure is from an unshielded source, then there is nothing for another person to "catch."

    If a person has radioactive particles on them, the particles could brush off onto another person, so that person would be exposed too.
